Client.
Reinvigorating a heritage building.
The objective.
Petone Engineering was involved in the first stage of the strengthening work on this building, which is made up of brick, concrete, timber and steel, as well as the main seismic upgrade project.
Our involvement.
The steelwork needed to fit with both the original construction of the building and more recently seismic upgrade attempts.
Petone Engineering performed an initial strengthening of the apartments to secure the building until the full upgrade could be performed.
The final upgrade contained some brackets weighing more than 1000kg. With no crane or Hiab options available, this challenge was solved by the team through the a combination of dollies and chain hoists.
The outcome.
All aspects of the strengthening work was completed successfully by the Petone Engineering team and received well by our project partners.
